The private Jesuit university in Managua, Nicaragua, where priest Chepe Idiáquez works is one of a series of Catholic institutions that have been attacked, as the country's yearlong unrest continues.

The Central American country has been in turmoil since last April, when President Daniel Ortega launched a brutal crackdown on protesters and other opponents.

International press organizations are criticizing the media attacks in Nicaragua, which include torching a radio station, stealing equipment and cutting off TV networks.

For over four months, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has responded forcefully to nationwide protests. As many as 23,000 are seeking refuge next door.
