More than a thousand people have been rescued as the state is drenched and battered by what the Governor has called an "unprecedented and historic flooding event."
"I cannot say the happiness I have," the husband of a woman rescued from the rubble told The Associated Press. He says she is eight months pregnant. The collapse killed some three dozen people.
The women and children may have been beaten and raped. Some are pregnant. But a researcher who has worked with former captives says with the right support and treatment, there's hope.
