Transportation officials say crews are working to treat roads ahead of snow and ice, but warned people to stay off of them.

A winter weather warning has been issued for the Triad and High Country, which could bring some snow and ice, depending on the region and the track of the storm.

Heavy snow rolled through Tennessee and Kentucky on Thursday, and was expected to hit several states across the northeast next.

Roads remains closed in many areas of the Sierra, as dozens of flights have been canceled. It's been the snowiest month in the Sierra in more than 50 years.

The stranded residents and musicians slept on the floor and on mattresses provided by the pub, and passed the time by singing karaoke, playing quiz games and eating Yorkshire puddings.

More than 100 million Americans were under some type of winter weather advisory on Saturday, with more snow and ice expected to hit the southern and eastern United States over the coming days.

Ski areas are seeing record sales of season passes as people look for outdoor exercise this winter. Most are requiring masks, limiting lodge use, and making people put their boots on at their cars.

"As time went by, the cars got buried," said a driver. "I was really scared." Japan's Self-Defense Forces distributed food, blankets and fuel to the stranded and worked with shovels to free vehicles.
