At least 24 states have reported that revenues this year have come in weaker than expected, leading to cuts to higher education spending across the country.
Kentucky has already enacted a bill that would prohibit labor unions from forcing non-union members to pay fees to the union. Lawmakers in Missouri and New Hampshire are debating similar bills.
State legislators in 30 states make $30,000 a year or less. New Mexico doesn't pay lawmakers at all, while those in New Hampshire make just $200 per two-year term.
