Katie Ledecky clocked in about 10 seconds faster than the world record for the 1,500 meter "short course" freestyle race on Day 2 of the Swimming World Cup in Toronto.

The Guilford County Schools Board of Education unanimously approved a new policy to provide second-grade students in the district with access to water safety instruction.

"I saw that the lifeguards were not jumping into the water because they were paralyzed," Team USA coach Andrea Fuentes said. Luckily for athlete Anita Alvarez, Fuentes is an Olympic swimmer.

The shortage — affecting about a third of U.S. public pools — has led some to reduce hours or close altogether. The pandemic and earlier rhetoric about work visas for foreigners led to the problem.

Lisala Folau told a local broadcaster about his swimming journey, which lasted more than a day and took him to three islands. Social media users hearing his story are calling him "real-life Aquaman."

After winning her second gold medal, swimmer Kaylee McKeown invited Emily Seebohm to share the top step of the podium. "It was quite emotional. She had some tears in her eyes, so did I," McKeown says.

In addition to smashing a longtime world record, Tatjana Schoenmaker took home South Africa's first gold medal of the Tokyo Games.

Great Britain's Tom Dean was diagnosed with COVID for a second time just a few months ahead of the Olympic trials. Now he has two gold medals in Tokyo.

"I feel incredibly proud to say that I am a gay man and also an Olympic champion," the 27-year-old diver from Great Britain told his fans. Daley's gold was the first of his Olympic career.
