A group of Central American asylum-seekers, who have been traveling through Mexico for weeks, is gathering near the border with the U.S. The migrants say they will request asylum on Sunday.

Many Haitians seeking asylum in the U.S. are stuck in limbo in the Mexican border city. They've found the comforts of home cooking at a tiny eatery that ditched Mexican classics for all Haitian fare.

Plans to expand the border crossing could bulldoze over a longstanding market where many food vendors have made their living — and in some cases, their homes — for years, if not generations.

They are children, sex workers, drug users who live in fear of HIV. The portraits and stories are featured in a new book set in Tijuana: "Tomorrow Is A Long Time."

At the San Ysidro crossing between San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico is requiring foreign pedestrians to show a passport and fill out entry paperwork.
