Nevin Harrison, 19, became the first woman from the U.S. to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport of canoe sprint.

It was not the color medal the U.S. had hoped for, but it was a better result than at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics when the USWNT was bounced out of the tournament in the quarterfinals.

Fields crashed last Friday during a semifinal heat at the Tokyo Olympics. He was rushed to a hospital's intensive care unit after he'd suffered a brain hemorrhage and broken rib.

Crouser broke the Olympic record on three of his six throws along with winning the gold in the shot put. He also won gold during the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. USA's Joe Kovacs took silver.

Japan won its third skateboarding gold in the sport's Olympic debut. 19-year-old Sakura Yosozumi earned gold and 12-year-old teammate Kokona Hiraki won silver. Britain's Sky Brown, 13, won the bronze.

Olympic organizers are under intense pressure to end a ban on protests on the podium at the Tokyo Games. U.S. shot-putter Raven Saunders became the first to defy the ban after winning a silver medal.

Sprinter Krystsina Tsimanouskaya told reporters that she was pleading for help from Japanese police at the airport and will not return home to Belarus.

Schauffele won the men's golf competition by one stroke over Slovakia's Rory Sabbatini. Schauffele said he would deliver the gold medal to his father who once dreamed of being an Olympic decathlete.

It's been an astonishingly successful Games for the 24-year-old from Florida. He added two gold medals to his haul from the Tokyo Olympics, departing the Games with five golds.

Serbia's Djokovic loses to Spain's Pablo Carreño Busta, ending his chances of winning a bronze in Tokyo. "I gave it all, whatever I had left in the tank, which was not so much," Djokovic says.
