This Sunday marks the anniversary of a massive storm that brought tornadoes and high winds to Forsyth County.

The death toll from the storm stands at 23, with victims ranging in age from 6 to 93. One family, connected by marriage and living in two homes along the same road, lost seven members.

It hasn't be an easy year for the Guilford County School District.

Students are returning to class in Guilford County next week, many having been relocated after an EF-2 tornado damaged several schools in April.

So far, the federal government has given more than half a million dollars to assist local tornado victims in Guilford and Rockingham Counties.

Disaster recovery centers in Guilford and Rockingham counties are open. They have been established to help those whose homes or businesses were impacted by last month's severe storms.

Greensboro city leaders are asking for help as the city begins to recover from the tornado that touched down there Sunday.

At least one person died and thousands are still without power after a tornado ripped through Greensboro Sunday evening.
