Voters in the Piedmont and High Country share their thoughts on the role and responsibilities of the media with WFDD reporters David Ford and DJ Simmons. Topping the list are honesty, impartiality, and conveying just the facts.

With the 2024 presidential race this close just days before November 5, it is likely that undecided voters will decide the outcome. WFDD's David Ford and DJ Simmons spoke with several of them across six counties in the Piedmont and High Country to find out why they remain on the fence.

WFDD spoke with voters in Alamance, Forsyth, Guilford, Stokes, Yadkin and Watauga counties about a host of local, statewide, and national issues. They also shared their thoughts on the candidates and why they will be voting for them on November 5.

Seven states have prohibited noncitizens from voting in state and local elections. In North Carolina, Senate Bill 630 would change the language of the state constitution, making it the eighth to do so. WFDD’s David Ford spoke with Wake Forest University politics professor John Dinan about the potential move and what’s driving it. 

From the plaintiffs’ perspective, S.B. 824, which requires voters to provide photo ID at the polls, disenfranchises Black and Latino voters. Attorneys representing GOP supporters of the law argue that it’s among the most permissive in the country.
