The two tennis greats confirmed the plan after hinting at the possibility earlier this week.

After a year in which she has dealt with some health scares, Williams reclaimed her fitness and her game. She is favored against Angelique Kerber to win her eighth Wimbledon singles title.

Kevin Anderson needed more than six and a half hours to beat his American opponent, John Isner. It was easily the longest match that late in a major tournament in men's tennis history.

The Czech star won the singles Wimbledon title, 16 doubles Grand Slams and three Olympic medals. The Women's Tennis Association said the Hall of Famer died Sunday "after a long battle with cancer."

The win breaks a tie Federer, 35, held with Pete Sampras for the most wins at the legendary tournament. It adds to his record for most Grand Slam singles championships, which now stands at 19.

Williams was unable to take advantage of early chances against Spain's Garbiñe Muguruza — who only grew more accurate and confident as the match progressed.

"This year's been amazing," Venus Williams says after reaching her second Grand Slam final of the 2017 season.

Already one of the greatest tennis players ever, Serena Williams won her seventh Wimbledon title in straight sets on Saturday. Later, she and her sister Venus won their sixth doubles championship.
