North Carolina's newborn screening program receives federal grant

North Carolina will receive $1.7 million to support its newborn screening program. The money will be distributed to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services over five years. The funding has been awarded from a division of the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration. The goal is to improve and build upon advancements in the state’s newborn screening system.

Spreading the word about Medicaid expansion means all hands on deck

Beginning December 1, 2023, hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians will become eligible for health care coverage through Medicaid. The services provided include primary and maternity care as well as hospital stays, prescription drug benefits, and more. Many efforts are underway at the state and local level to connect newly eligible individuals to these resources.
