Forsyth County Sheriff Kimbrough appointed to Governor's Crime Commission

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough has been appointed to the Governor’s Crime Commission.

Governor Josh Stein made the announcement late last week. The Commission is made up of over 40 members statewide. It sets program priorities and makes recommendations to the governor for grant awards, with the goal of reducing crime and enhancing public safety.

Other newly appointed members include Erin Hucks, a chief district court judge from Union County, and Nisha Williams, the legal director of the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Kimbrough brings over 40 years of law enforcement experience, having started his career with the Winston-Salem Police Department in 1984. He was elected the county’s first Black sheriff in 2018. 

Last month, Governor Stein outlined his priorities for the Commission for 2025: improving recruitment and retention of law enforcement officers, community violence intervention, and removing barriers to reentry for incarcerated individuals.
