Entrepreneurs are turning to Oak Ridge National Lab's supercomputer to make all sorts of things, including maps that are much more accurate in predicting how a neighborhood will fare in a flood.

Years of drought have taken a toll on agriculture, particularly cattle ranching. Now instead of too little water, there's too much. But the rains may revive pastures and allow rebuilding of herds.

 

Flooding from extreme tidal swings was once just a rare nuisance for coastal cities. But rising sea levels have increased the frequency of these nuisance floods as much as tenfold since the 1960s.
