Politicians give speeches and scary headlines fill the news, but somehow life pushes on for New Yorkers.

The state had 562 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours. In a bit of "good news," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said 1,452 coronavirus patients have been discharged from hospitals in the past day.

The state has reported more than 75,000 confirmed cases, but Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the peak is still to come. On Tuesday, he expressed frustration that FEMA was hindering, not helping, its efforts.

Cuomo said more than 66,000 people have tested positive in the state for coronavirus, accounting for nearly half of all cases in the U.S. About 36,000 of those cases are in New York City.

The president's decision came hours after floating the possibility that he would issue quarantines for the hard-hit states. The CDC later advised residents against non-essential travel for 14 days.

The president said New York ignored ventilators sent by the federal government. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo fired back, saying the president's view was "incorrect and grossly uninformed."

Despite a statewide effort to procure and distribute coronavirus testing supplies to hospitals in New York, some facilities still don't have what they need to test patients quickly on-site.

"We were looking at a freight train coming across the country — we're now looking at a bullet train," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. The state now has more than 25,000 cases.
