Winston-Salem/Forsyth County high schoolers advocated for safe gun storage at a board of education meeting on Tuesday. They’re part of a group called Students Demand Action, which is a national organization of young activists fighting gun violence. 

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools is seeking volunteers for an advisory group that will be made up of parents and guardians in the district.

Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools plans to increase random, unannounced use of metal detectors in high schools. District officials say they hope the technology will deter individuals from bringing weapons on campus.
