Thomas Lawe: Building Robots, Building Community

As interest in robotics grows around the world, the non-profit program NC FIRST helps students get more involved. NC FIRST helps young people discover their love for science and technology. As well as exposing teens to robotics, it explores other fields that are connected to science and technology that are not always considered. Thomas Lawe is an early college student who is part of the program. Radio Camper Jalyn-Rose talked to him about his experience.
 

Paul Kortenaar Celebrates SciWorks' 50th Anniversary

SciWorks, the science and environmental park of Forsyth county, is a scientific museum in the city of Winston-Salem. This year, SciWorks will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. Recently, WFDD Radio Camper Lauren James interviewed Paul Kortenaar, the Executive Director at SciWorks.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Mr. Kortenaar and speak with him about the museum. Initially, I was a bit intimidated by Paul. At a height far above five feet, he towered over me, but over the course of our interview, Paul revealed to be a gentle giant who was very passionate about his job.

Camino Bakery's Cary Clifford Discusses Her Deep Love for Winston-Salem

Cary Clifford is the owner and founder of Camino Bakery in downtown Winston-Salem. This local bakery attracts people from all over the area to downtown. Radio Camper Heather Schwartz sat down with her to find out more.

 
She walked up to me with a wide smile and an obvious enthusiasm to begin the conversation. Her enthusiasm for the interview stayed, and her comments on starting a business caught my eyes and ears. 

Namrata Sangha and the Indo-US Cultural Association Bring India to the Triad

Namrata Sangha is the secretary of the Indo-US Cultural Association, a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to increase awareness of the cultural heritage of India in the Triad region of North Carolina. Radio Camper Emma McSawley sat down to talk to her.

Namrata walked up to me wearing a pale green long-sleeve shirt and brown pants. She was carrying a red umberella and had a smile on her face. She was eager to tell me about how much planning goes into the India Fest, which her organization hosts yearly.
