Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan announced at a city council meeting Tuesday that she will not seek reelection. Vaughan has served as Greensboro Mayor since 2013.
The proposed increases come as the city undertakes multiple capital improvement projects including a $177 million effort to remove "forever chemicals" from its drinking water.
The zoning allows for more than 70 homes to be built on around 24 acres, and was approved despite neighbors' concerns as city officials cite a lack of housing supply.
Two senior-level city employees who spoke to WFDD on condition of anonymity said they have seen documents related to an internal inquiry which found Jaiyeoba sent inappropriate messages of a sexual nature to a female employee. Both sources said the city council was briefed on the matter before voting 5-4 to award him severance Tuesday evening.
